The Bible teaches a limited time of punishment, not eternal hell. |
Most versions of the Bible mistranslate Greek and Hebrew words for unspecified periods of time, such as aion and olam, which are used in regard to the length of divine punishment as well as other things. The traditional doctrine of hell is absurd and incompatible with God's perfect nature. |
Christianity is based on an understanding of God derived from scripture and rational thought. We know the God of the Bible to be omnipotent, omniscient, loving, merciful, and just. The idea of eternal hell gives rise to contradictions and absurdities about God. It also offends man's most basic God-given moral sensibilities, making us wonder how we could be created in the image of a deity who inflicts punishments that would make the worst human criminals blush.

- In Search of God's Will by John Moneypenny. Some Christians are always worrying about figuring out God's will for their life, afraid that if they make the wrong choices or things don't go well, that means God is angry and their salvation is in jeopardy. We need not fear, because God's will is simple and wonderful: Sooner or later, one way or another, He wills that all souls be saved.
